Saying good bye is the hardest thing to do
I’ve stared at a white computer screen with a flashing black line for 45 minutes now. It’s never easy to find the words you don’t want to say. The memories are plentiful but extremely suffocating. It was just after high school when I discovered my passion for writing. A plan in mind, I decided to attend college to be a sports journalist. The Review — the same newspaper that gave me my first opportunity to write as a correspondent at age 18 — hired me just months after my college graduation. Nearly seven years later, I’m walking into the sunset. For the first time in my professional career, I’m changing jobs. My final day serving as sports editor will be July 4. My new gig is extremely exciting with a lot of potential. But I’m leaving behind my position with the newspaper that was more than just a job. It was with much pride and passion that I reported on the local sports scene for our readers. A lot of you didn’t care for me.
