Kidsfest track meet marks 20th year

EAST LIVERPOOL — The 20th Annual Kidsfest track and field meet, held June 27 at Mangano Memorial Track at East Liverpool High School, drew 254 competitors. The meet, for youths ages 4-18, was sponsored by the Pegasus Track Club of East Liverpool. The top three placers in each event were awarded trophies. The event was highlighted by the winners of the John Conrad and Jerry Hall Memorial Mile races. Jason Pollard of Cleveland Upward Bound won the boys 1600 race in 5:25.20 and Rebekah McCutchen of the Pegasus Track Club won the girls 1600 race in 6:18.50. One event record was broken during the day. Gameron Grays, of Cleveland Upward Bound, set a new mark in the 15-16 age group 400 with a time of 51.7. Jekeytha Adkins of the Pegasus Track Club tied the mark in the girls 13-14 100 hurdles with a time of 17.0. The first Kidsfest event was held in 1989 at Patterson Field in East Liverpool under the direction of Challenger Track Club founder Jerry Humphre.
