Jeffrey Walter, 21, Steubenville Pike, pleaded not guilty to possession of drugs and speeding; pretrial Aug. 3.
Lacey Hulton, 22, Lisbon Road, Salem, was fined $250 for failure to reinstate license and assured clear distance ahead.
Mary Clunen, 43, Jennings Avenue, Salem, was fined $75 for illegal distribution of or permitting children to use cigarettes or other tobacco products.
Jordan Wilson, 20, West Main Street, East Palestine, was fined $60 for failure to control, amended from disregard for private safety/property, and a seat belt violation.
A zoning violation against Joseph McPeek, 48, Main Street, Leetonia, was dismissed.
A New Waterford man charged with bringing drugs into the county jail waived his right to a preliminary hearing in county Municipal Court.
Instead, the case against Robert J. Halfhill Jr., 27, of Waterford Road, will be presented to the county grand jury for possible indictment in county Common Pleas Court on the felony charge of illegal conveyance of a prohibited items into the jail. Halfhill was found with suspected marijuana and rolling papers while being processed at the jail on June 27.
In other action in municipal court, Halfhill was found guilty of criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct. He was fined $200 and sentenced to 30 days in jail, with credit for 12 days already served.
Halfhill was accused of being drunk on June 15 when he trespassed at the homes of Chris Shank and Randal Hutton, both of whom live on Front Street, New Waterford.
Jason C. Sorrentino, 25, St. Clair Avenue, East Liverpool, was found guilty of theft and fined $100 and given credit for 10 days already spent in jail on the charge. Sorrentino stole two Wal-Mart gift certificates from where he worked, Columbiana Foundry, which had purchased them as employee gifts. He is to return to court on Aug. 3, when a hearing will be held with company officials present to determine restitution.
David W. Chappell, 50, state Route 45, Lisbon, was sentenced to 15 days in jail, fined $1,000 and his license was suspended for one year after found guilty of OVI and leaving the scene of an accident. He was also ordered to attend Family Recovery Center classes.
Gary L. Anderson, 43, South Lincoln Avenue, Salem, was fined $300 and his license was suspended for six months after being found guilty of reckless operation, which was reduced from OVI, and failing to drive within marked lanes. A three-day jail sentence will be waived if Anderson attends Steering Clear classes.
John S. Paulin, 54, Union Street, Columbiana, was fined $100 and given credit for one day spent in jail after being found guilty of criminal trespassing. Paulin was also fined $100 for disorderly conduct. Paulin was found intoxicated and passed out by a pond on North Main Street, Columbiana, on June 8.
