TORONTO - Gem City residents will have the opportunity to get fit in their own community, as a new wellness facility will open in the city in less than two weeks.
The East Liverpool YMCA and Trinity Health System will be expanding its facilities and open the doors at the new site, located on Franklin Avenue, next to Riesbeck's Food Market, on June 11.
According to YMCA Executive Director Michelle Wilson, the facility will provide state-of-the-art cardio equipment and strength training equipment, as well as several aerobics classes.

"We felt an opportunity was needed to service more of the upper Ohio Valley, so the decision was made between the YMCA and Trinity Health System to collaborate on a location in Toronto," she stated. "Those that currently have an association-wide membership with our YMCA will be able to utilize the Toronto site of the YMCA in addition to the Steubenville sites."
The Trinity Physical Therapy Department will move to this site from the current location in Toronto sometime in July, Wilson noted. All existing patients will be notified of the transition.
The Toronto YMCA hours will be 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.
There also are YMCA sites in Steubenville, East Liverpool and Calcutta.
