BELOIT - One resident of the Country Squire Mobile Home Park in Knox Township died of a gunshot wound late Tuesday, while another is in custody and charged with murder.
Columbiana County deputies arrived at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday to find 46-year-old Michael Fisher dead on the front porch at 9 Kevin Drive. The resident of that trailer, Frank Gorichky, 53, was soon taken into custody by deputies.
A gun believed to be involved in the shooting was also recovered by investigators, according to Columbiana County Sheriff Ray Stone.
Fisher reportedly lived at 19 Kevin Drive, just across the drive from Gorichky.
The Columbiana County Sheriff's Department received at least two calls from residents of the Country Squire Mobile Home Park or at least those in the area at the time of the shooting, asking for assistance after someone was shot. According to Stone the first call came in to dispatchers at about 11:38 p.m.
"There's somebody dead (lying) in the door right now," said one caller identified as Annie Campbell. When dispatchers requested the address, the woman said she did not know it.
Another caller was able to provide additional information.
"Yeah, you need to come here right now because ... aah ... somebody just shot somebody," another unidentified female caller said. "It's at the the trailer park across from ... aah ... Perkins."
The Perkins restaurant is located on U.S. Route 62 near the intersection of South Johnson Road to the north and Knox-School Road to the south. Country Squire Mobile Home Park is located on the south side of U.S. Route 62.
Deputies arrived, followed soon by medical assistance, the coroner's office, the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigations and sheriff's detectives.
Stone said neighbors described hearing arguing going on prior to the shooting.
He said one female witnessed the shooting. Investigators took statements from many of the residents of the park, including several who reportedly gathered to watch them work.
At about 1:25 p.m. Wednesday, based on information provided from the investigation, Columbiana County Prosecutor Robert Herron filed a single charge of murder against Gorichky. He remains in custody without bond at the Columbiana County Jail.
It is believed Gorichky will be arraigned in Columbiana County Municipal Court on Friday because the court is closed today due to the holiday.
