Trustees approve purchase of land for park expansion

The St. Clair Township Board of Trustees were unanimous during Monday’s meeting in a vote to approve the parcel of land located at 49050 Calcutta Smith Ferry Road. The parcel will be purchased for $45,000 and be used for access and expansion of the park.

Trustees also approved the Certification of Milage within St. Clair Township as 70.620 miles and Police Chief Brian McKenzie’s request to submit a request for reimbursement from the county in the amount of $5,000 for the officer assigned to the county’s drug task force.

Purchase orders totaling $20,451.90 and bills totaling $284,901 were approved for payment.

In his report, McKenzie told the trustees about a variety of trainings he and his officers have taken, and officer Dakota Wetzel gave a demonstration with the police department’s new tasers.

Road Supervisor Scott Barrett said the online auction for the equipment no longer used by the road department was underway on Monday.

Trustee James Sabatini gave an update on the Midland Fredericktown slip repair in which he noted bids for contractors will be opened on Oct. 16. Work is expected to start in November and be completed in April.

Trustee Robert Swickard noted that the work on the Sheetz station should be wrapping up around the beginning of October.

The St. Clair Township Board of Trustees meets every other Monday at 4 p.m. at the township administration building, 15442 Pugh Road. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Oct. 7.
