ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP — The Calcutta Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD)’s Annual Fish Fry returns for Good Friday.

The fish fry is an annual event hosted by the fire department to raise funds for the St. Clair Township Tourism Bureau’s Annual Memorial Day Fireworks Festival.

The department offers the option of dine in or take out and the meal includes fish and a choice of French fries, mac and cheese or coleslaw for side dishes.

The event, which will be held at Calcutta Volunteer Fire Department Station 10, 155445 Pugh Road, Calcutta, on April 18 from 3 to 7 p.m., will also include a baked goods sale and Chinese Auction.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from Smith’s Farm Supply, Sabatini Shoes, 4 Seasons Mini Mart, Calcutta Auto Parts and from any Calcutta volunteer firefighter.

The CFVD will also be kicking off the Memorial Weekend festivities with a 5K run/walk which is held to raise money for the fire department to give back to the community through various events and assistance.

The 5K will take place on May 25 at the CFVD with race check in/registration/packet pick up at 9 a.m. The race starts at 10 a.m.

Early race packet pick up can be done at the fire station on May 24 between 6 to 8 p.m.

A DJ welcome and the National Anthem will begin at 9:50 a.m.

The race, which begins and ends at the fire department, with a route that consists of asphalt terrain through shopping plazas and residential neighborhoods, is professionally chip-timed by GCXC Racing, Youngstown.

The Kavanagh Family, Calcutta YMCA and Planet Fitness will provide water throughout the course and at the finish line.

An awards ceremony will take place after the race at the fire station.

Awards will be presented for first place overall winner, first place male and first place female, and for first place male and female in the following age groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50 and up. There will also be awards for the top two first responders. There is no double dipping on awards.

Registration for the race is $25 which includes a T-shirt if registered by May 12, after that there will be a registration price increase, and a T-shirt will not be guaranteed.
