— Police responded to a call at 2:51 a.m. Tuesday regarding to a suspicious person on the back porch of a residence in the 100 block of Oak Street. Upon arrival, officers witnessed an opossum at that location, fleeing, and advised the caller of what was found,

— Courtesy transport was requested at 4:56 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Ridge and Water streets by two male juveniles to their residence.

— An officer was on patrol at 3:52 p.m. Sunday westbound on state Route 344 near Betz Street when he observed a car, failing to maintain its lane and veering twice off the right shoulder of the road. After making a traffic stop near Route 344 and West Main Extension, the driver and passenger (both age 17 juveniles) were observed during the interaction with the officer to possess an open container of suspected alcoholic beverage in the back seat. The officer radioed for backup to assist him in searching the vehicle, where they recovered eight e-vapes, two Marlboro cigarettes and one mostly empty bottle of MadDog 20/20 liquor. The driver admitted possession of all but one e-vape, which belonged to the passenger. Legal guardians for both juveniles were called, and both subjects will be charged through juvenile court.

–While park at the coke ovens, an officer observed a male and a female loitering in the parking lot on foot at 11:41 a.m. Sept. 14. Recognizing the female from a previous incident, the officer initiated contact. The couple advised that they just started dating a week earlier and just were going for a walk in the park.

— During a routine patrol of the Dairy Queen, an officer found a door to the lobby unlocked shortly after midnight Sept. 17. After checking the building, a key holder was called to secure the building.

East Palestine

— A Salineville resident reported at 10:24 p.m. on Monday that while in the village, a piece of metal in the road on the Brookdale bridge punctured the oil pan on his motorcycle.

— Officers were notified at 6:14 p.m. on Monday of an ongoing civil matter on Claybrook.

— An officer responded to East Palestine High School on West Grant Street at 12:54 p.m. on Monday to take a report from a student of neglect and abuse issues at the student home. Officers spoke to the student and to the student’s family and offered both advice and referral to assistance programs.

— Officers responded at Circle K on North Market Street at 6:33 a.m. on Monday to a report of property damage.

— Officers spoke to a male subject about a civil matter at 3:28 p.m. on Sunday at the station. Officers respond to Claybrook to speak to the other party. A resolution could not be reached.

— Officers made contact with a resident on East Main Street about damage to a vehicle at 6:51 a.m. on Sunday.

— Officers responded at 12:32 a.m. to West Grant Street regarding a suspicious person. No one matching the description was found in the area.

— Officers responded at 9:40 p.m. on Saturday to the area of East Clark and James streets. Officers made contact with the driver of the vehicle and the situation was resolved.

— A man made contact with officers regarding a car blocking an alley near Garfield Avenue at 6:34 p.m. on Saturday. The owner of the vehicle moved it.

— Officers responded with forte and EMS to a vehicle fire at Circle K on North Market Street at 4:26 p.m. on Friday. The fire was extinguished and no one was injured.

— Officers responded at 2:39 p.m. to a disturbance on West Martin Street on Friday.

— Officers responded at 11:22 a.m. to a West Martin residence to reports from a woman who alleged a delivery driver was making threats toward her. Officers determined no threats were made.

— Officers spoke to a male subject at the station at 9:09 a.m. on Friday regarding possible fraud. The man reported that mail to someone else was being delivered to his address. It was determined the home was located outside the village limits and he was advised to contact the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office.

— Officers responded to a hang-up 911 call at 3:54 p.m. on Thursday.

— Officers responded to West Martin Street at 12:38 on Thursday to a report of suspicious person. Officer did not locate the subject.

— A French Street resident came to the station at 5:53 p.m. on Sept. 11 to report that her son had been bitten by a dog in early August.

— A man came to the station to report at 8:51 a.m. on Sept. 11 an item was stolen from his property. The matter is under investigation.

— A resident reported on Sept. 10 that children in a home on Thomas Street were not attending school. Officers responded to the address at 10:43 a.m. and one officer was assaulted by a female juvenile at the home. She was arrested and transported to the Tobin Center.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Second Street at 4:18 p.m. Tuesday for a reported medical call. Officers were advised that the person had made threats to harm themselves and wanted to go to the hospital. Officers spoke with the fire department who were with the person and advised they were okay.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 3:57 p.m. Monday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that she was having issues with a co-worker posting information on Facebook. The caller was advised that the issue was not criminal but was advised of her options.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of Ohio Avenue at 3:39 p.m. Monday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller, who is the juvenile’s guardian, advised that they would not get into their vehicle. Officers spoke with the juvenile who got into the vehicle, and the caller was advised of the process of filing unruly charges.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department about an incident that occurred in another jurisdiction at 12:22 p.m. Monday. Officers provided them with options for dealing with the situation.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 1 a.m. Monday for a report of an intoxicated person in the roadway. Officers located the person on the ground in the curb lawn and his bike in the roadway after having fallen down. The person was found to be extremely intoxicated and trying to get home. His mother was contacted and responded to pick him up, and the man was issued a warning for disorderly conduct and his bike was stored at the station to be picked up later.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Fourth Street at 10:18 p.m. Sunday for a reported dispute with no threats. Officers responded and were advised an intoxicated man was found walking in the street and was brought to his residence but refused to go inside. Officers were advised that the man had been arguing with his spouse and wanted to go for a walk. The man was advised that due to his intoxicated state, he was not permitted to be out walking and to go inside. The man then agreed to go inside his residence.

— Officers responded to the area of East State Street and South Union Avenue at 7:29 p.m. Sunday for a report of an intoxicated man staggering as he walked. Contact was made and there was found to be a language barrier, and he was able to provide identification of where he resided and was ultimately transported to his residence.

— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 4:59 p.m. Sunday regarding threats made by an ex-boyfriend. The woman advised her ex also threatened her father via Snapchat voice messages, and that she hasn’t seen him for two and a half months. The woman asked about a protection order and officers advised her of the process to obtain one. Officers also called the ex-boyfriend and left a voicemail.

— Officers responded to the area of East State Street and East Pershing Street at 4:45 p.m. Sunday for a reported reckless operator that allegedly failed to stop for a sign near Centennial Park with pedestrians near the intersection. The caller provided a registration, and the vehicle was subsequently located at a business in the 1800 block of East State Street. Officers spoke with the driver who advised they did not realize they had run a stop sign but acknowledged being in the area a short time earlier. The driver was given a warning for the violation and advised to pay close attention to the posted traffic signs and pedestrians when driving.

— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 12:45 p.m. Sunday for a report of a physical altercation between two residents. Officers spoke with both parties, one of which did have a minor visible injury to his nose caused by the other. Voluntary statements were left for both to fill out.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 12:32 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. The caller advised that her mother has been having some health issues and she hasn’t been able to get a hold of her. Officers spoke with the woman and advised her of the complaint. She advised that she’d contact her daughter.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 12:13 p.m. Sunday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that a vehicle was driving through a yard near their residence. Officers checked the area but did not locate any tire marks in the yard.

— Officers responded to the 1500 block of Southeast Boulevard at 2:42 a.m. Sunday to peak with a woman who reported that her Wi-Fi was hacked. The woman was advised to make the Wi-Fi private and contact the internet company for further assistance.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Third Street at 1:49 a.m. Sunday for a reported domestic in progress. Prior to officers’ arrival dispatch “advised officers to step up the pace” as the incident had become physical. When officers arrived the caller, who is the daughter of the couple in question, came outside screaming that her father was hitting her mother. Officers entered the residence and located them in a first-floor bedroom, where officers observed the female half to be in the fetal position in the corner of the room and crying hysterically with an injury to the head. Officers immediately placed the male half, Francisco Jose, 38, Salem, into custody for domestic violence and the fire department and EMT were requested to the scene and transported the female half to the Salem Regional Medical Center for treatment. Jose was transported to the police department for processing and later transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers on patrol in the 1000 block of East State Street at 12:50 a.m. Sunday observed a woman slumped over in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. Officers spoke with the woman and found they had just fallen asleep and weren’t in need of any assistance.

— Officers on patrol in the 2300 block of East State Street at 12:35 a.m. Sunday located two people behind Goodwill rummaging through a dumpster. They were advised the business does not want anyone in their dumpster and sent them on their way without incident.

— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue and East State Street at 11:50 p.m. Saturday for a reported reckless operator. The caller advised that a blue sedan was all over the roadway. Officers located the vehicle at a business and spoke with the driver who was an elderly woman and advised she was just tired and having an eye issue.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 10:39 p.m. Saturday for a report of suspicious activity. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone.
