Jean Chrislip Francis

HIGHLANDTOWN — Jean Chrislip Francis, 89, of Highlandtown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Calcutta Health Care Center where she had been residing for the past five months.

She was born July 9, 1935, in East Liverpool, the daughter of the late Austin and Iora (Jackson) Chrislip. She stood as the last family member as her parents and siblings, Austin and Ruth, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Marge Grimm (Larry Mills); daughter-in-law, Gwen Francis; and grandchildren: Scott Francis, Sarah (Heather) Francis, and Jarrod Grimm. A niece, Ruthanna Keister, also survives as does a sister-in-law, Thelma Francis, as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-nieces, great-nephews, and one great-great-grandchild.

Jean was a member of the Wellsville High School class of 1953 and a proud Wellsville Tiger, a member of the Highlandtown Church, a member of the Wellsville SOI Lodge 657, a 70-plus year member of her card club, and an avid shopper and Bingo player. She had once been employed at Southern Local as a cook but then did housecleaning and painting on her own. She was a hard worker and helped husband Frank care for the home and children in Highlandtown. Jean was preceded in death on June 3, 2015, by her husband, Frank “Bevo” Francis, after a 63 year marriage. She was also preceded in death by her son Frank in February of 2024.

The funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2024, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville, with Pastor Bob Minor of the church officiating. Family and friends may call from 4-6 p.m. on Friday.

Burial will be in Highlandtown Cemetery.
