EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool turned in an outstanding all-around team effort to beat state-ranked Union Local, 28-26, 23-25, 25-20, 18-25, 15-8, in a match that went two hours and 15 minutes Monday.

The Potters improve to 9-3, while the Jets — ranked No. 4 in the Division V state poll — suffered their second straight loss to fall to 9-2. They lost in four games at Meadowbrook on Saturday.

Ava Green totaled 22 kills, two blocks and two aces, Ayla Brown 16 kills and three aces and Kenzie Headley 15 kills and two blocks to power the Potters. Kamryn Yanni totaled five aces and 49 assists. Cate Davis had two aces, four kills and five assists, Addi Rudibaugh four kills and two blocks and Ayla Riggle 21 digs.

East Liverpool also won the junior varsity match, 25-20, 25-9.

The Potters were led by Ella Gunning with four aces and 11 assists, Alanna McGonigal four aces and two kills, Addie Jones six kills and two blocks and Hailey Board five kills.

East Liverpool has a busy week, traveling to St. Clairsville on Tuesday hosting Beaver Local on Thursday.

Southern 3, Valley 0

SALINEVILLE — Southern Local’s volleyball team made quick work of Valley Christian with a 25-8, 25-8, 25-14 win on Monday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.

For Southern, Gianna Pecorelli had 22 points, eight aces and four kills. Brooke Boyle had 16 points and five aces. Haylee Kellogg had five assists and two kills. Addy Martin had six digs. Cheyenne Buzzard had five kills and two blocks. Gigi Rodgers had four kills and two blocks.

Southern won the jayvee portion, 25-4, 25-4. Mary Beadnell had 17 points and five aces. Natalia Lopez added 14 points and two aces.

Southern (5-5, 2-4) hosts Wellsville today.

Valley Christian falls to 3-6.

Beaver 3, St. Clairsville 0

CALCUTTA — Adison Ketchum had 12 kills, two blocks and two digs in Beaver Local’s 25-21, 25-18, 25-15, win over St. Clairsville on Monday.

Jocelyn Pomeroy contributed eight kills, two aces and five digs, Eva McKnight eight kills and three digs Aleia Evanko four kills, 16 assists and six digs, Bria Boyd seven aces and 13 assists, Lily Schrieber four aces and 15 digs, Karsyn Bowyer two aces and six digs, Danica Germanovich seven digs and Giada Williams two kills.

Both teams play today with Beaver Local (9-3) hosting Brooke and St. Clairsville (2-10) entertaining East Liverpool.

In junior varsity action, St. Clairsville won 27-25, 25-19. For the Beavers, Sydney McNear had eight kills, Bailee Baker five kills and two digs, Addie Thurik 14 assists and six digs and Perri Gilson nine digs.

Beaver Local won the freshman match, 25-6, 25-20. Leah Schrieber had four kills, three assists and three digs fr the Beavers. Bailey Stark added three kills and Calleigh Eells two kills, five assists and two digs.
